Carroll Education Foundation's Grant Recipients and Sponsors 2009

The grant "88 Keys to Success" provided 18 electronic keyboards, stands and headphones for the music students at Old Union Elementary. The idea for this project came from student surveys. The keyboards are being utilized in conjunction with the current music curriculum for all students at OUES. Currently, third and fourth grade students are learning the basics of the piano along with music reading. A number of our students are fortunate enough to have private lessons. However, there are just as many students who have keyboards and pianos in their homes, but do not have any instruction. The experiences the students are having in the music classroom can readily be transferred to home where students can practice on their own or with their parents. We are excited to expand our learning with this new equipment. We are so thankful for the Carroll Education Foundation, along with Mendocino Wine Company and Frost Bank, for their support and funding of this project.
