Carroll Education Foundation's Grant Recipients and Sponsors 2010

The purpose of this grant proposal is to equip our five kindergarten classrooms with the storage equipment and leveled readers to implement our new Reader's Workshop program. In the past we had students take home 3-5 books to read for a week. With the Reader's Workshop program, each student will shop for 10 just right readers to keep in their reading drawer for the entire week. Each day they will be reading the reader's that are just right for them and taking 1-2 books home each night to read with their parents. As you can see this increases the number of books we will need in our classroom. Our classroom libraries are limited and we will need to update and upgrade our classrooms. The carts will give each student a place to keep their readers and will help with the management of this program. The multi purpose cart will provide addition storage for the readers that will make it easy for the students to shop for books that are just right for them. The books tubs will provide the containers to hold the books so that we can level them and have them marked appropriatly. All of these items will greatly improve our classrooms and help with the implementation of the Reader's Workshop.
